PM Modi Unveils 'Nasha Mukt Yuva' Campaign, Urges Youth To Lead Fight Against Drugs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', kicking off a 100-week nationwide campaign to combat drug abuse.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' through video conferencing. The initiative aims to encourage young people to stay away from drug abuse and become ambassadors of positive change in society and their communities. The launch also marks the beginning of a 100-week nationwide Jan Bhagidari campaign against substance abuse.
What did PM Modi say?
In his address on Sunday, PM Modi stated that over a crore youngsters came together for a strong national pledge. "Hearty congratulations to the youth who joined this campaign in millions; this is the pledge of our country to make India drug free India," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister urged the youth to stay away from drugs and pursue the path of a healthy life.
Stressing the value of holistic health, PM stated, "The well-being of body and mind equally matters. Every young Indian citizen should always remain healthy, responsible, and positive in his contribution toward society. For us to achieve a Viksit Bharat, Nasha Mukt Yuva is essential".
Will it be a nationwide campaign?
The campaign involves the weekly Jan Bhagidari event on Sundays throughout the nation. It’s meant to build public awareness and public participation in making India drug-free with activities including various sports, walksathons, meditations, cultural programs, etc.
The programme involves various activities, including discussions, art events, sports events, awareness campaigns, nukkad nataks, which will aim at fighting drugs.
The programme is carried out in collaboration with various entities like universities, youth organizations, various CSOS, and other associations and spiritual bodies. The programme sees participation from youth across India at more than 10,000 centers.
Did spiritual organizations participate?
MY Bharat volunteers, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, Youth Clubs, Educational institutions (schools, colleges, and universities), NGOs, youth organizations from various industry associations, and over 125 spiritual organizations also join the programme virtually.
