New Delhi: Just before the re-examination of NEET-UG 2026 to be held on June 21, the examination centers of thousands of candidates have been changed. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has allotted new examination centers to candidates from several states, following which there has been increased concern among students and parents. However, the agency has clarified that for candidates whose centers have been changed, new admit cards have been issued and in some cases the previously issued admit cards will also remain valid.
Why did the need to change the examination center arise?
NTA had reviewed many centers to conduct the re-exam in a safe and fair manner. Keeping in view the security arrangements, capacity and administrative reasons related to the examination, centers were reorganized in some cities. Due to this, a large number of candidates had to be allotted new centers. Earlier, the agency had also given the candidates the option to change the examination city.
Which students will have to download the new admit card?
The agency has said that the candidates who have no change in the examination center can appear for the examination with the admit card issued earlier. Those students who have been allotted a new center will have to download the revised admit card. NTA has asked the candidates to check all the information entered on the admit card carefully.
What is the situation regarding old admit card?
Admit cards issued earlier will remain valid for candidates whose examination center has not changed. Whereas students whose centers have been changed will have to reach the examination center with the revised admit card. NTA has said that candidates should rely only on the documents downloaded from the official website and avoid any unconfirmed information circulated on social media.
What other preparations has NTA made for the exam?
Before the re-exam, NTA has further strengthened the security arrangements and monitoring. The agency has also launched a verified WhatsApp notification service, through which official updates are being delivered to the candidates. Also, it has been advised to be cautious of fake question papers, answer keys and fraudulent claims.
How many candidates will appear for re-examination?
Lakhs of candidates are going to appear in the re-examination of NEET-UG 2026. The exam will be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. The Ministry of Education and NTA are constantly reviewing the preparations so that the examination process remains completely transparent and fair.
What precautions should candidates take?
Experts say that before the examination, candidates should once again check their admit card, address of the examination center and reporting time. Students whose center has been changed should make travel and accommodation arrangements well in time. NTA has also appealed to the candidates to rely only on the information received from the official website and verified means.
