National News: The National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) is set to introduce a new feature to its Rajmarg Yatra app. If you often go on road trips, here is some good news for you. The new feature will allow travelers to compare the toll charges, across various routes between two cities. The new feature is designed to help travelers compare toll charges across various routes on the National Highway and choose the most budget-friendly option.

How does it work?

For instance, if someone is traveling from Delhi to Lucknow, they will be presented with three options;

  • Yamuna Expressway
  • Ghaziabad-Aligarh-Kanpur Highway
  • Moradabad-Bareilly-Sitapur Corridor

The Rajmarg Yatra app will provide a side-by-side comparison of the toll charges for each of these routes, and highlight the route with the least toll cost. This way, travelers can easily choose the most budget-friendly path for their journey, potentially saving a significant amount of money on toll expenses.The Rajmarg Yatra app, launched in 2013 by NHAI provides information about road conditions, and facilities and offers emergency services for travelers on highways. The app is available for download on Playstore for Android users and on Apple Store for iPhone users.

FASTag passes also available from August 15

Along with the new toll comparison feature, NHAI has also introduced an annual FASTag pass. This Rs 3000 pass is set to launch on August 15, 2025. This will further help travelers cut down on toll expenses as it allows them to pass through 200 toll plazas on national highways, without paying toll charges. This can be very beneficial for frequent travelers.These passes will only be valid for NHAI-operated toll plazas and not for those operated by the state government. The passes can be applied for via the Rajmarg Yatra app or through the NHAI website (https://nhai.gov.in). This new FASTag initiative is part of NHAI’s ongoing efforts to enhance convenience for road travelers and streamline the toll payment process, helping them save both time and money
