New Delhi: After remaining sluggish for about a week, monsoon has now gained momentum in North India. According to IMD, there will be good rain in Delhi-NCR, UP, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and many parts of Central India for the next few days. There is also an alert for thunder, strong winds and heavy rain in some places.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR for the next 3 days?

There will be light to moderate rain in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and surrounding areas. Heavy rain may also occur in some areas.

Has a yellow alert been issued for the capital?

There will be clouds, lightning and strong winds throughout the day. Rain will drop the temperature and provide relief from humidity. Air quality can also improve.

Where will it be most affected in Uttar Pradesh?

The timing of rain will vary in UP: Western UP: Rain continues till July 10. Eastern UP: Good rain between July 11 and 13. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr. The administration has appealed to the people to travel only after observing the weather.

How is the situation in hilly states?

There will be rainy season in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal and Uttarakhand for the next week. There is a danger of strong winds, thunder and lightning in many places. There is also a possibility of landslides and road closure. Therefore, local people and tourists have been asked to remain alert.

Forecast of Rajasthan, Haryana and Central India:

  • Rajasthan: Heavy rain in East Rajasthan on 8-9 July. Good rain possible in western Rajasthan also.
  • Haryana: Rain in many districts including Gurugram, Hisar, Jhajjar, Bhiwani for the next 3 days.
  • Madhya Pradesh:  Rain in the western part till July 9, in the eastern part till July 11. There is an alert of heavy rain in some areas of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat.

Monsoon will be fully active in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Konkan and Central Maharashtra. There may be heavy rain in the next few days. Waterlogging and traffic may be affected at some places.

What has the IMD advised?

  • Do not go out in the open in bad weather.
  • Stay in a safe place in case of lightning.
  • Avoid travel if not necessary.
  • Follow the instructions of the local administration in areas with heavy rains.
