New Delhi. Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India has launched a scathing attack on Pakistan at the United Nations, highlighting its long-standing support for terrorism. India pointed to recent remarks made by Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who openly admitted that his country has supported and financed terrorist organisations for decades. This rare confession, India said, clearly establishes Pakistan as a "rogue state" that not only nurtures terrorism but also promotes instability in the South Asian region and beyond.

Strong Rebuttal by Indian Diplomat Yojana Patel

Ambassador Yojna Patel, India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, firmly countered Pakistan's remarks during the VoTAN launch event. She exercised India's Right of Reply after a Pakistani representative brought up the Pahalgam attack.

Responding with clarity and conviction, Patel said, “A particular delegation is misusing this platform for propaganda and baseless allegations against India. Meanwhile, it is their own Defence Minister who has admitted their state's support for terrorism.”

Pakistan's "Open Confession" Cannot Be Ignored

Patel added that Khawaja Asif’s statement did not surprise the international community, as Pakistan’s ties with terrorism are well documented. However, she emphasized that this public acknowledgment has laid bare Pakistan’s duplicity on the global stage. “The world cannot turn a blind eye any longer,” Patel stated, adding that this moment should serve as a wake-up call for those who have been downplaying or ignoring Pakistan’s role in global terrorism.

Khawaja Asif’s Controversial Admission

The controversy stems from an interview Defence Minister Khawaja Asif gave to Sky News, in which he revealed that Pakistan had for decades supported and financed terror groups, even calling it "dirty work" done on behalf of the West. This candid admission has drawn widespread criticism and embarrassment for Pakistan, with global analysts questioning Islamabad’s credibility and intentions.

A Pattern of Deception

India has long accused Pakistan of harbouring and aiding terrorist organisations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, groups responsible for multiple attacks on Indian soil. The latest developments, especially Asif's remarks, provide further evidence of Pakistan’s systematic support for terrorism. In conclusion, India has urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable and ensure that the United Nations does not become a platform for false narratives and terrorism apologists.
