Karolina Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, Leaves Office after 18 months of Service

US President Donald Trump has announced the resignation of the White House Press Secretary, Karolina Leavitt. He stated that she is resigning to spend more time with her children but would continue to serve as his outside secretary.

Washington: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is resigning at the end of August, but will still work for the US President Donald Trumpas an outside adviser. Leavitt, who is youngest to hold such an esteemed post, said that she is leaving this demanding White House job to devote herself to her two children.

Why is she leaving?

Leavitt, during her 18 months in office, gained the reputation of fierce Trump supporter and also for her fierce conflicts with reporters during White House press conferences.

Karoline Leavitt, who returned to White House after maternity leave in May having given birth to her second daughter.

What is there in the post?

Leavitt, who is a staunch supporter of Trump, wrote in a post on X that “the honour and adventure of a lifetime” was her experience as Press Secretary, but that “it was getting harder and harder to have a family and one of the most demanding jobs in the Administration.”

Once she started working again after having a daughter, she realized she wouldn't be able to be the mother she wanted to be if she was still spending the “constant time, energy and attention” the Press Secretary's job demands,” she said.

While not in the White House, Leavitt is likely to stay on in Trump's political enterprise as an outside communications consultant, and as a contributor to the larger “Make America Great Again” campaign.

What did Donald Trump say?

Writing on Truth Social, Trump extolled Leavitt's “one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office”. She has been a leader of his administration and an important part of his 2024 re-election campaign," he said. 

"Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom, since 2018, including our Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024," he said.
