In return, India imported $ 1201.48 million i.e. more than Rs 10 thousand crores from Nepal. This means that India has a trade surplus of more than Rs 54 thousand crores with Nepal. In the last five years, trade between India and Nepal has shown fluctuations. In 2020-21, total trade was $7,511.62 million, which rose sharply to $11,016.79 million in 2021-22. It then declined to $8,855.61 million in 2022-23. The trade further fell to $7,872.09 million in 2023-24. However, in 2024-25, it recovered slightly, reaching $8,536.35 million.

In the financial year 2021, the difference between the export and import of the two countries was quite large. Where India's export was $ 6,838.46 million. While the import was $ 673.16 million.
