New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an urgent weather warning on Friday, predicting a dramatic split in weather patterns across the country. The department has issued a rain alert for 16 states within the next 24 hours. The IMD simultaneously issued an "Orange Alert" for Delhi.

The IMD has also issued an alert regarding thunderstorms and storms. After the heavy rain, the temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 6 degrees Celsius in different states.
The IMD has advised residents in the affected storm zones to exercise extreme caution. Powerful winds reaching speeds between 80 to 85 kmph, dangerous lightning, and isolated hailstorms threaten to disrupt daily life across northern and eastern parts of the country.
While 16 state, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, brace for violent thunderstorms and heavy rains.
