IMD Issues Fresh Monsoon Alert: Delhi-NCR to Receive Rain for Six Days, North India on Heavy Shower Watch

New Delhi: There is good news for the people struggling with the heat in North India. People will soon get relief from the heatwave and sticky humidity. The Meteorological Department says that the south-west monsoon is now rapidly moving towards Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh. Due to this, there will be light to heavy rain in the next few days in many areas of North India including Delhi-NCR, winds will blow and clouds will camp in the sky.

When will the weather of Delhi-NCR change?

According to IMD, there will be intermittent rains in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and surrounding areas for the next few days. The weather will become cold with strong winds. As soon as the mercury falls, people will get great relief from the heat. Now take out the umbrella and raincoat, because wet days have arrived.

In which states is rain predicted?

The Meteorological Department has reported light to moderate rain on different days in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan between June 25 and July 1. There will be clouds in western UP on June 26 and again from June 29 to July 1. There may be good rain at many places in eastern Uttar Pradesh between June 29 and July 1.

How will the weather be in the mountains?

There has been a warning of storms, lightning and heavy rain in Uttarakhand from June 29 to July 1. The process of rain will continue in Jammu and Kashmir from June 25 to July 1. There are full chances of rain in Himachal Pradesh on June 30 and July 1. If you are planning to visit the mountains then go out only after checking the weather.

How far has the monsoon reached yet?

Southwest Monsoon has completely covered Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Now it is rapidly moving towards UP and Uttarakhand. IMD believes that monsoon will become more active in other parts of North India in the next few days. 

Where will there be maximum rainfall in Eastern India?

There is an alert of heavy to very heavy rain in West Bengal, Sikkim and Meghalaya between June 27 and 29. In these states, along with torrential rains, there may be problem of lightning and flooding of roads. People living in low-lying areas should be alert from now on.

Will summer end everywhere?

A heatwave will still cause trouble in some places. The effect of heatwave may persist in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. However, there are chances of rain and thundershowers in areas like Indore, Mandla, Daltonganj and Motihari.

What precautions should people take?

IMD has clear advice: Do not leave home unnecessarily in bad weather. Avoid stopping in open fields and stay under a solid roof if there is lightning. There is an appeal to farmers and those working outdoors to keep watching the latest weather updates and take care of themselves.
