IMD Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms, Lightning and Gusty Winds Across Delhi, UP, Bihar on July 1

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several parts of the country.

New Delhi: Many states of North India including Delhi-NCR are now going to get relief from the humid heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain in many areas, strong wind and thunder at some places on Wednesday. Rain alerts have been issued for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh.

What did IMD predict for Northeast?

The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for the next six days. In view of the continuous rain, red alert has been issued in some areas. People have been asked to be cautious and obey the administration.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for parts of New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan.

Will the monsoon advance rapidly now?

According to IMD, in the next two to three days, monsoon may reach Madhya Pradesh, UP, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and some other parts of Rajasthan. Due to this, the weather will change in many states of North India and the temperature will also fall.

What about the weather in UP?

Rain may continue in many districts of Western UP till July 2. After this, it may rain again at many places in Eastern UP on July 3 and 4. In some areas, strong winds and thunderstorms may occur.

What about Delhi's weather?

Rainy weather will prevail in Delhi from July 1 to 6. The Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rain, accompanied by lightning and thunder, and winds of 40 to 50 km per hour on Wednesday. The sky will remain overcast. This weather will persist throughout the week. 

How will the weather be in Rajasthan?

The weather will change in eastern and western parts of Rajasthan. There may be rain in Eastern Rajasthan till July 4 and in Western Rajasthan between July 1 and 4. During this period, there are chances of storms, dusty wind and rain with thunder at many places. 

What about the weather in Bihar?

The southwest monsoon is on its way to enter parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. It has also reached parts of Uttar Pradesh and most of Uttarakhand. It has also advanced into parts of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
