A Sudden Downpour and Thunderstorm
On Thursday morning, Delhi-NCR was hit by an unexpected heavy downpour accompanied by a thunderstorm, creating widespread chaos across the region. The rain, which began early in the day, caused rapid waterlogging in several key areas, while gusty winds and thunder added to the already challenging conditions. The rainfall intensity led to sudden flooding on roads, forcing commuters to face long delays.

Traffic Chaos and Road Closures
As the rain pounded the city, traffic came to a grinding halt in many parts of Delhi and its surrounding areas. Major intersections like ITO, Minto Bridge, and Ring Road saw severe waterlogging, making it nearly impossible for vehicles to pass. In some areas, tree branches were uprooted and fallen on roads, obstructing the movement of traffic further. Motorists reported being stuck for hours, with the rain showing no signs of letting up.

Waterlogging Across Key Locations
Waterlogging became a major concern, especially in low-lying areas of Delhi and Noida. Prominent locations such as Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, and Gurgaon faced inundation, causing delays in public transport services. The Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories for commuters to avoid waterlogged routes and take alternate routes to avoid getting stuck.

Emergency Services Deployed
To tackle the situation, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) mobilized emergency services to assist in clearing fallen trees and mitigating waterlogging. In addition, traffic police were stationed at critical points to divert vehicles and manage congestion. Despite these efforts, the impact of the downpour continued to disrupt daily routines throughout the day.
