Goa tragedy to be investigated, these leaders including PM Modi, Rahul express grief

A stampede occurred during the annual pilgrimage to Lairai Devi temple in Shirgaon of Goa state. Six individuals were killed in this stampede. Simultaneously, over 50 individuals have been injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was saddened by the incident and wished for the recovery of the injured at the earliest.

The stampede occurred during the popular Sri Lairai Jatra (spiritual yatra) organized here on Friday. Six individuals lost their lives in this stampede. Meanwhile, over 50 people have been injured. The accident occurred late at night. Following this accident, numerous leaders from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Rahul Gandhi have condoned their grief. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted, "Saddened by loss of lives due to stampede at Goa's Shirgaon. Condolences to families of those who have lost their dear ones." Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished for the early recovery of the injured. 

CM condoles over incident

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant tweeted, "Deeply distressed by the unfortunate stampede at Lairai Jatra in Shirgaon this morning. I have gone to hospital to see injured and assured all necessary help to the affected families. I am personally taking close watch of the situation. Prime Minister Modi called me and taken a detailed assessment of the situation, the PM has assured full cooperation during such testing times.

Rahul Gandhi expresses grief

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remarked, "News of death of large number of devotees in stampede during the annual pilgrimage at Lairai Devi temple at Shirgaon, Goa is extremely disheartening. God must bless the departed souls eternal peace. My condolences to the grieving families. Hope the injured recover early."

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated, "The reports about the death of numerous devotees in stampede at the annual pilgrimage to Lairai Devi temple in Shirgaon, Goa are very disheartening. God must grant peace to the departed souls. My condolences to the grieving families. I pray that the injured recuperate soon.

What did the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee say?

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has condemned the unfortunate tragedy in Shirgaon Jatra. "Scores of innocent lives have lost their lives and numerous others have been hurt in the stampede. The GPCC pays its respects to the deceased souls and condole with their families at the time of grief. Our prayers are with the victims' families during this period of suffering."

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee questions CM

We hope all the injured recover early and fully. The GPCC is in support of the Shirgaon community and affected families. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee also asked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to offer immediate required treatment and financial aid to the bereaved families and the injured ones. We also ask the state government to ensure safe and smooth organization of the last four days of Lairai Jatra for the 'Kaul' of the goddess which draws lakhs of devotees in Shirgaon.
