Rebellion Brews in Bihar Alliances: Chirag vs. Nitish, Sahni vs. Tejashwi Ahead of Polls
Before the Bihar elections, internal discord shakes both the NDA and INDIA alliances. Chirag Paswan confronts Nitish Kumar, while Mukesh Sahni presses Tejashwi Yadav for the deputy CM post, intensifying political tension.

National News: There is a lot of commotion in the state politics regarding the Bihar assembly elections. NDA (National Democratic Alliance), led by Bihar Chief Minister and JDU leader Nitish Kumar, and All India Alliance (Mahagathbandhan), led by former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, are in the field with full force before the elections, and the leaders of both the alliances are claiming victory in the elections, but amidst this claim of victory, the voices of discontent are getting louder from within the major alliances NDA and Mahagathbandhan.
NDA's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan is openly attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and raising questions about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and regretting that he has to support this government. He is also having a dispute with NDA's other constituent party, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM). He has had a sharp argument with the patron of his 'HAM Party' and former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on the issue of dividing the Mahadalits.
Sahni’s deputy CM demand sparks rift
On the other hand, in the Mahagathbandhan, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leader Mukesh Sahni is also openly expressing his displeasure with Tejashwi Yadav and is demanding to be declared as the Deputy Chief Minister. On the other hand, in the Mahagathbandhan, both Congress and RJD are talking about contesting the elections together, but Tejashwi Yadav is the self-proclaimed CM candidate. Congress has not made any announcement in this regard yet.
Chirag attacks Nitish while being in NDA
Chirag Paswan is a constituent of the NDA and is also a Union Minister, but while being an ally, he is constantly attacking the Nitish government over the law and order situation in the state. Criticizing the law and order situation in the state, he has even said that he is sad to support a government that has failed to stop the rising crime in the state.Th e LJP leader alleged that either the administration is complicit in this or the administration has become completely useless… I am ashamed that I am supporting such a government under whose rule crime has gone out of control.
Chirag-Nitish feud dates back to LJP split
Chirag and Nitish Kumar have already been at loggerheads. Chirag Paswan blames Nitish Kumar for breaking his party, and his father's party was divided into two parts. In the year 2021, his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras formed a separate party from LJP under his leadership, and he also got a place in PM Narendra Modi's cabinet, while Chirag Paswan was the only MP in his party, and due to this, he also lost his father Ram Vilas Paswan's government residence.
Crisis brews in Mahagathbandhan, Sahni warns
It is not that there is a tussle only in the NDA. The Mahagathbandhan is also not untouched by this. Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni is constantly repeating his demand for the post of Deputy Chief Minister. He even said that if he is not made the Deputy Chief Minister, then even RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will not be able to become the Chief Minister.
This is not the first time that Mukesh Sahni has made such a statement. Even during the 2020 assembly elections, he had demanded 25 seats from the Mahagathbandhan and the post of Deputy Chief Minister, but when this demand was not met, he left the press conference midway, and later the Bharatiya Janata Party gave him 11 seats from its quota, and he joined the NDA.
Sahni’s 60-seat demand challenges Mahagathbandhan
Now in 2025, Mukesh Sahni has again become a part of the Mahagathbandhan and is repeating the same demand that at least 60 seats should be given to VIPs and the post of Deputy Chief Minister should also be given, but looking at the current political situation, this does not seem easy, because the Mahagathbandhan already includes parties like RJD, Congress, CPI (M), CPI, and CPI (ML), and no party is ready to give up its share of seats. In such a situation, it will not be possible for Tejashwi Yadav to fulfill VIP's demand of 60 seats or even 15 seats.
There is a ruckus over the distribution of seats.
Sahni, who aspires to become the leader of the most backward community after former Chief Minister Karpuri Thakur, justifies VIP's claim of 60 seats. He says that the Nishad community has 12% of the votes, so they have a right to this many seats.
