The victims, a family returning to Delhi from a wedding in Budaun, were trapped inside the vehicle as it became engulfed in fire. Despite locals’ efforts to douse the blaze, the intensity prevented rescue. The tragedy, reported to police by 6:00 AM, has left the community in shock, with authorities launching an investigation.

Details of the Incident

The car, carrying six passengers, was traveling on NH-34 when it veered off and struck a concrete culvert at high speed, causing it to overturn and ignite instantly. The victims, identified as Anil Kumar (32), his wife Sunita (30), their children Aryan (8) and Priya (5), and Anil’s brother Vikas (28), perished in the fire. A lone survivor, Anil’s sister-in-law Meera (28), was rescued with severe burns and is under treatment at Bulandshahr District Hospital. Eyewitnesses reported the car was speeding, possibly due to driver fatigue after a late-night event. The wreckage was sent for forensic analysis to confirm the cause of the fire.

Police and Community Response

Bulandshahr police arrived promptly, cordoning off the site for investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control, potentially due to drowsiness or poor visibility in pre-dawn hours. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby toll booths and interviewing witnesses. Locals expressed grief, with some attempting to extinguish the fire using water from a nearby canal, but the blaze was too intense. Authorities have contacted the victims’ family in Delhi for further procedures.
