Name Missing from Bihar Voter List? Election Commission Allows Objections from August 1 to September 1
Bihar voters missing from the revised list can file claims or objections between August 1 and September 1, as the Election Commission assures transparency and pledges to protect every eligible citizen’s voting rights.

National News: Amidst the uproar over the Special Voter Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Bihar, the Election Commission has given a big relief to the voters and political parties. Amidst the voices of protest from Patna to Delhi, the Commission has clarified that the voters whose names have been removed by mistake or who have been left out of the list will get a full month to be included again. Claims and objections can be filed from 1 August to 1 September.
The Election Commission stressed that strengthening of democracy is possible only through a transparent and fair electoral process. The Commission said, Should we be afraid of baseless questions and pave the way for fake voting? After this tough stand of the Commission, it has become clear that it is taking any dispute related to the voter list seriously and is committed to providing voting rights to every eligible person.
Draft Voter List on August 1
According to the Election Commission of India, the draft voter list will be released on August 1, 2025, at the end of the first phase of the special intensive revision campaign. If there is any kind of mistake in this list or the name of any eligible voter is missing, then the concerned person or political party can file an objection with the ERO (Electoral Registration Officer) or AERO (Assistant Electoral Registration Officer) of the concerned assembly constituency by September 1, 2025.
Missed Names to Be Added
Citing page 3, paragraph 7(5) of its order, the Commission said that if the name of any voter has been wrongly deleted by the BLO/BLA or any eligible voter has not been included in the list, then it can be corrected from August 1 to September 1. This right has also been given to all recognized political parties.
52 Lakh Voters Not Found
After a door-to-door investigation under SIR, election officials have made a shocking revelation. According to the information received so far, more than 52 lakh voters were found to be absent from their addresses, while 18 lakh voters have died. On this basis, the commission is working towards purifying the voter list.
Urban Turnout Low, Date Extended
In view of the relatively low participation in urban areas as compared to rural areas, the Commission has extended the last date for filling the voter form to July 26. This step will ensure that the maximum number of voters participate in this process and no eligible citizen is deprived of the right to vote.
98% Forms Submitted in Bihar
As of July 23, according to data released by the Election Commission, 98.01 percent of voters have submitted their forms during SIR. A total of 7.17 crore voters' forms have been digitized, while about 15 lakh forms are still pending. For voters who are currently out of Bihar but are not registered as voters anywhere else, a new form has been made available online, which can be filled out on the Election Commission's website. The names of those who have submitted the counting form will be included in the draft voter list.
