Bihar Grand Alliance Plans Three Deputy CMs: Congress And Muslim Representation Promised In Power Structure
Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allawaru announced that if the grand alliance forms government, it will appoint three deputy chief ministers, including one from Congress and another representing the Muslim community, highlighting inclusive political representation.
As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections draw closer, political activity is intensifying. The Grand Alliance recently announced Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate and VIP Party chief Mukesh Sahni as its Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate. Following this announcement, opposition parties raised questions about how the Muslim community and the Congress party would be represented. Now, Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru has clarified the situation.
What did Allavaru say in the interview?
In an interview, Allavaru stated that if a grand alliance government is formed, there will be more than one deputy chief minister. He added that Congress will also have a deputy chief minister, and one deputy chief minister will be chosen from the Muslim community. Allavaru said that the fundamental principle of the grand alliance is to provide respectable representation to every major class and community.
He further stated that the government could have two, three, or four deputy chief ministers. One of these would be from the Congress party and one from the Muslim community. A final decision would be made after the election results are announced. According to the Congress in-charge, this alliance is not just about seat-sharing, but also about social balance.
Regarding the delay in formally announcing Tejashwi Yadav's Chief Ministerial candidacy, Allavaru stated that this move was a well-planned strategy. He explained that at the first meeting of the Grand Alliance in April, it was decided that the CM face would be announced only after seat-sharing and a joint manifesto were finalized. Allavaru also revealed that Tejashwi Yadav's name had been announced three weeks earlier, and the formal announcement was planned before Diwali.
News of disagreement dismissed
He dismissed reports of differences between the RJD and Congress over seat-sharing, saying that differences of opinion are common in coalition politics. The media sometimes turns this into a controversy, but the Grand Alliance is contesting the elections with complete unity.
Krishna Allawaru said that the Bihar elections are not just about a change of power, but a step towards social justice, inclusiveness, and a new development model. He expressed confidence that the people will give a strong mandate to the Grand Alliance.
