China Accused of Planning Car Attack on Taiwan’s Vice President During Prague Visit
Czech military intelligence has revealed a disturbing plot by China to intimidate Taiwan’s Vice President, Hsiao Bi-khim, during her 2023 visit to Prague. The alleged plan involved staging a symbolic car crash to send an international message.

International News: In a startling revelation, Czech Republic’s military intelligence has disclosed that China allegedly plotted to intimidate Taiwan’s Vice President, Tsai Ing-wen’s deputy Hsiao Bi-khim, during her visit to Prague last year. According to the report, Chinese operatives planned a deliberate car collision to send a symbolic and chilling message. The intelligence indicates that Chinese officials closely monitored Hsiao’s entire itinerary tracking her meetings, events, and interactions with Czech officials. The plan involved crashing a car intentionally into her vehicle on the streets of Prague, an act described as one of the most serious diplomatic provocations by China in Europe to date.
Although the plot never materialized, Czech security agencies have classified the move as a severe breach of diplomatic norms. According to Czech military intelligence chief Petr Bartovský that the intention was to create a message of fear and intimidation that would resonate on the international stage.
Pursuit and Surveillance
The report also highlights an incident where a Chinese diplomat was seen breaking traffic laws and running red lights while trailing Hsiao’s delegation, confirming the extent of surveillance. Despite of the tensed situation, local Czech security forces ensured that Hsiao was never in immediate danger, maintaining tight protection throughout her visit.
Diplomatic Fallout
Unsurprisingly, China reacted strongly after the report became public, accusing the Czech Republic of violating the “One China” policy. Guo Jia-kun, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned Prague for providing a platform to Taiwan’s independence supporters, calling it a “serious political mistake.”
Shifting Winds in Europe
In recent years, Taiwan has gained growing sympathy and support from several European nations in the face of increasing pressure from China. Experts believe this incident could accelerate diplomatic ties between Taiwan and Europe while prompting European security agencies to heighten vigilance against covert Chinese operations.
