32 Dead, 700 Injured in Venezuela Quakes as Gov’t Declares Emergency

Caracas: Two powerful earthquakes on Wednesday have shaken the entire north-central Venezuel. Interim President Delcy Rodriguez has declared a nationwide state of emergency after the massive earthquakes that caused widespread damage. Where did the earthquake occur?
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the first tremor, measuring 7.2, struck about 160 kilometres (100 miles) west of Caracas on Wednesday, followed just 39 seconds later by a second, more powerful 7.5-magnitude quake. The epicenter is reported near Yumaré. Reports of extensive damage are emerging from several cities, including the capital, Caracas.
