Punjab’s Education Turns Entrepreneurial: CM Mann Makes Every College a Startup Hub for Youth Empowerment
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s new ‘Business Class’ program has started a fresh revolution in education, where students are turning ideas into businesses and learning to earn during college itself.
Punjab has changed the old education system forever. Now students don’t just study for jobs—they prepare to create them. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched the “Business Class” program so every student learns how to start and grow a business. Inspired by Delhi’s successful entrepreneurship model, this step is turning Punjab’s classrooms into idea factories.
Degrees that bring dreams alive!
The course, called the Entrepreneurship Mindset Course (EMC), has become compulsory for BBA, BCom, BTech, and BVoc students. Nearly 1.5 lakh students from 20 universities, 320 ITIs, and 91 polytechnics have joined already. The goal is simple—when youth graduate, they shouldn’t run after jobs but create opportunities for others through their own ventures.
No exams, only earnings count!
Gone are the days of cramming books. Students now think of business ideas each semester, make real products, and sell them. Marks have been replaced by innovation and profit. Instead of exams, students are graded on how well they execute their business plan. Two credit points are given for every practical business project they build.
How does Punjab Startup App help?
The government has launched a special mobile platform called the “Punjab Startup App.” It guides students from idea to business launch. Available in Punjabi, Hindi, and English, it teaches planning, finance, marketing, and investor pitching. Within two weeks of launch, more than 75,000 students registered and recorded ₹25 lakh in business turnover.
Colleges become mini-industries now!
Students are already turning class projects into real products like solar lamps and USB chargers. Every classroom now works like a small company where teamwork, creativity, and profit matter more than papers. CM Mann says proudly, “Punjab’s children will no longer beg for jobs—they will create jobs for others.”
Target: 5 lakh entrepreneurs by 2029
By the year 2028–29, the Punjab government aims to reach five lakh students through this program. Thousands of startups will rise from these young minds, giving a huge boost to Punjab’s economy. This will bridge India’s big job gap, where crores of graduates struggle for limited employment every year.
From job seekers to job givers!
This is not just a government scheme—it’s a change of mindset. Punjab’s youth are learning to depend on their skills instead of waiting for jobs abroad. The dream of “Make in Punjab” is becoming reality. The Business Class program has made learning meaningful, practical, and profitable—all at once.
