Uttarakhand: 25-Year-Old Woman Raped In Moving Car After Taking Lift, Two Held
On the basis of the woman's statement and the evidences that were collected during the investigation, police arrested the first accused, a 34-year-old man from his residence on Tuesday.
Rudrapur: Two men have been arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in a moving car in the Transit Camp area of Uttarakhand's Rudrapur, a police official said.
What did the survivor say?
According to the complaint filed by the survivor, the incident happened on January 25, when she was walking from her house to her workplace in Pantnagar, when two men offered her a lift, claiming they would drop her at her destination.
The police official said that the survivor in her complaint said that "instead of taking her to the workplace, the accused allegedly drove around the area and later one of them then moved to the back seat and raped her inside the moving vehicle
The police official said that after that the woman was abandoned at a deserted location.

On Monday, an FIR was registered under the sections 70 (1) and 351 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Was anyone arrested in the case?
Later on the basis of the woman's statement and the evidences that were collected during the investigation, police arrested the first accused, a 34-year-old man from his residence on Tuesday. And the police has also recovered the car used in the crime.
During the examination of the vehicle, a district forensic team collected evidence, including the survivor’s hair samples.
Later on Tuesday, the second accused, a 36-year-old man, was arrested, police said.
According to officials, the arrests were carried out by teams of Special Operations Group (SOG) and city police.
The victim’s identity has not been disclosed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
