UP Households to Pay 10% More for Electricity Starting June
The price increase stems from an additional fuel surcharge officially introduced by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
Lucknow: In a major blow to millions of consumers across Uttar Pradesh, electricity bill are likely to get higher from the June month onwards. The increment by 10% will be introduced from the upcoming June month, due to an additional fuel surcharge, as officially announced by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
According to the official order, this extra fee will be directly appended to the regular billing cycle beginning June 2026, meaning consumers will have to shell out an extra 10% on top of their standard monthly consumption charges.
What is Fuel Surcharge?
Electricity department told that this Fuel Surcharge will be applicable from the upcoming June month. This will be introduced to accomodate the additional cost in production and purchase. Under these provisions, Consumer will be needed to pay additional 10% of the consumption of electricity.
Why Power outages and irregular supply?
Although, decision came amid the compalaints by the consumers and public for irregularities and power outages. In summer seasons, consumption of electricity already increased, so this increment of the bill will directly be a burden upon consumers.
UPPCL's take?
UPPCL shared Chief Minister' remark, urging the residents of the state to participate in energy conservation, saying that one should use electricity only as much as is necessary. Using electricity responsibly and sensibly is the civic duty of all of us. Let us avoid unnecessary electricity expenses and contribute to energy conservation, so that better and uninterrupted electricity supply can be ensured for everyone.
