Meerut: There has been a stir due to the sighting of drones in the military area of Meerut for three days. A total of 5 drones were seen flying over Cantt every night between 28 and 30 May. The soldiers on duty saw them and also made a video. The army claims to have shot down two drones, but nothing has been found about the remaining three.

Why was there suspense for three nights?

Drones kept circling over the military area every night. The army immediately informed the police and other agencies. After that joint investigation started. Continuously flying drones over a military base is a cause for alarm.

Where did the debris go?

The soldiers have said that they have shot down two drones. After that searched the forest and surrounding areas. But not a single piece of drone has been found yet. Officers are saying that only when the debris is found will it be known what the drones were like and what they had come to do.

Why the fear of drones with cameras?

Looking at the video, it seems that the drone may be equipped with high-resolution cameras. For this reason the agencies are in tension. Were they making photo-video of the army's movement? Investigation is going on from this angle.

In which areas was vigil increased?

As soon as the news of the drone was received, police were alerted in Sardhana Road, Kankarkheda, RVC, Ganganagar. CCTV is being checked. They are finding out from where the drones were flown. Many police stations have also been put on alert.

What is the biggest question?

Flying a drone without permission in a no-fly zone like Cantt is a big crime. In the last few years, cases of espionage using drones have increased. That's why no chances are being taken. At present the search is going on. The debris and the drones were not found.

What is the challenge for the security agencies?

At present the focus of the investigation is to know what was the motive of those flying the drone. Flying a drone without permission over a restricted military area is considered a serious crime. In view of the incidents of espionage and surveillance through drones in recent years, security agencies are not ignoring any possibility in this matter.
