Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the future of the state depends on stronger participation of women in public life. Speaking at an event in Mohali, he praised women entrepreneurs who are building their own identity through hard work. Mann said women already manage homes and families with great responsibility. According to him, the same ability can help them lead institutions and governments. He added that a society cannot progress if half of its population remains outside decision making. Mann stressed that education and opportunity are the real tools of empowerment. When women receive both, they gain the confidence to move ahead. He said Punjab must ensure equal chances for women in every field.

Can Women Change Politics Too?

The Chief Minister also encouraged young women to join politics and participate in governance. He said girls today are performing better than boys in many areas of education and professional life. However, politics still remains largely dominated by men. Mann said this situation must change if democracy is to become stronger. Women leaders often understand social problems more closely because they manage families and communities. Their experience can improve policy decisions. He urged women to take interest in public life and leadership roles. Mann also asked women voters to think carefully while voting. Responsible voting, he said, is the first step toward better governance.

Is Punjab Governance Seeing Change?

Mann highlighted that Punjab administration is witnessing a visible shift with more women holding top positions. Several women officers are now serving as Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police. According to him, this is one of the highest numbers of women appointed to such roles. Earlier governments rarely placed women in these key administrative posts. Mann said the current approach is different because leadership should not depend on gender. When women lead departments, they bring fresh perspectives and balanced decisions. Their presence in governance also inspires young girls across the state. It sends a message that opportunities are open to everyone.

What Global Examples Inspired His Message?

While motivating women entrepreneurs, Mann referred to examples from other countries. He said in some economies women are deeply involved in manufacturing and production. Their participation strengthens national growth and global trade. Mann said Punjabi women can also contribute in a similar way. He reminded the audience that Punjab’s history is full of courageous and inspiring women. Such figures show that leadership by women is not a new idea. According to him, society simply needs to give women more space and opportunity today. When women work actively in economic activities, families become stronger. That strength eventually supports the entire state economy.

How Are Women Entrepreneurs Being Recognized?

At the event, the government honoured many women entrepreneurs from different districts of Punjab. These women have built small businesses and livelihood initiatives in rural areas. Their work reflects determination and creativity. Mann said recognising such achievements sends a powerful message to society. It shows that women can succeed through dedication and effort. Many of these entrepreneurs are part of self help groups working in villages. These groups allow women to support each other and share resources. As a result, many rural families now have stable sources of income. Mann said entrepreneurship among women can bring lasting change to the economy.

Which Welfare Steps Support Women?

The Punjab government has launched several programmes aimed at improving women’s financial security. Monthly assistance schemes are being planned to support women directly through bank transfers. Special provisions are also being made for women from disadvantaged communities. The government is preparing ration support programmes for millions of families. Essential food items will be provided to reduce pressure on household expenses. Mann said welfare schemes are important but they must work along with education and employment. Only financial support cannot solve long term social problems. Women must also gain skills and economic independence. That is the goal behind these initiatives.

Will Education Drive Real Empowerment?

Mann concluded his address by saying education is the strongest path to real empowerment. According to him, poverty and inequality cannot be removed without quality education. The government is focusing on improving schools and expanding opportunities for girls. Reservation in government jobs has also increased the participation of women in administration. Healthcare services and other welfare measures are being strengthened as well. Mann said the aim is to build a confident generation of women leaders. When women succeed in education, business, and governance, the whole state benefits. Punjab’s progress, he said, depends on empowering its women
