100% IFA Distribution Achieved: Mann Government Accelerates 'Anemia-Free Punjab' Campaign

The Mann Government has achieved a significant milestone in the 'Anemia-Free Punjab' campaign, successfully completing 100% IFA distribution. This historic acceleration demonstrates a powerful synergy of Health, Education, and Nutrition efforts to build a stronger state.

Chandigarh: Driven by the vision of a healthy and empowered populace, the Mann Government is giving unprecedented momentum to the historic "Anemia Mukt Punjab" campaign. This initiative goes far beyond simple policy; it is a critical, determined effort directly impacting the lives of millions of mothers, daughters, and children across the state. By prioritizing public health with tangible, ground-level action, the government is proving its commitment to transformational healthcare rather than just making announcements.

Proof of Health Model

The Punjab Government, with its primary focus on empowering the state's daughters, is effectively continuing its school anemia screening program. Comprehensive blood testing of approximately 60,000 girl students from sixth to twelfth grades in government schools is underway. This is to ensure that no girl suffers from anemia, as a healthy daughter is the foundation of a healthy Punjab. The Health Department has been provided with state-of-the-art, needle-free hemoglobin testing equipment for testing.

This technology not only makes testing quick and painless, but also ensures that students found to be anemic receive immediate treatment. This is a testament to the Punjab government's people-centered health model, where old schemes are being implemented with new energy and technology.

Strengthen the infrastructure

The success of the "Anemia Mukt Punjab" campaign is the result of a strong and successful collaboration between three key departments: Health, Education, and Women and Child Development. Through this collaboration, the state government has focused on distributing iron-folic acid (IFA) tablets and improving the nutritional status of children. 100% distribution of IFA tablets is being ensured through Anganwadi centers and ASHA workers, to approximately 7.27 lakh young children and 2.06 lakh pregnant and lactating mothers in rural and urban areas.

The government is ensuring that nutrition is improved by enhancing the nutritional value of mid-day meals to support children's physical and mental development. This comprehensive approach demonstrates the government's full commitment to strengthening health infrastructure.

'Anemia Free Punjab'

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur emphasized that awareness and public participation are essential for preventing anemia. The government is conducting awareness campaigns in public places to encourage citizens to eat a balanced and nutritious diet, while also advising them to avoid unhealthy commercial foods.

The Punjab government appeals to society to rise above any form of discrimination and provide equal opportunities for their daughters to nurture themselves and fulfill their dreams. The "Anemia-Free Punjab" campaign sends a clear message that the government is deeply committed to health, not merely keeping announcements on paper, but guaranteeing every citizen a healthy and robust life.
