New Delhi: In a development that is going to set up new political flashpoint between the opposition and the ruling, the Congress party has been asked to vacate two of its most prominent offices in Delhi by Saturday.

The ruling government has reportedly asked Congress to vacate its 24, Akbar Road office, which has been party's headquarters for 48 years by March 28.
The eviction notices apply not only to the party’s national headquarters at 24 Akbar Road but also to another key premises at 5 Raisina Road.
The government has set March 28 as the final date to vacate.
Was the Congress office working?
The Congress party, last year, inaugurated its new headquarters, Indira Bhavan, at Kotla Marg but the old office, Akbar Road bungalow, have not been vacated, and party activities still continue there.

About the recent development, Congress leader confirmed that the notices were received a few days ago and said that preparations are underway to challenge the orders in court.
Will Congress vacate the place?
According to Congress leaders, legal options are being explored, with plans to move the judiciary to put stay on eviction.
“We are exploring legal options available before us but this time government is more aggressive than previous times,” according to media reports, a leader familiar with the matter said.
According to sources, "Congress may request a short extension to reorganise the allotment of the property. One option under consideration is to bring a senior leader to the Rajya Sabha and have the bungalow allotted in their name, making it eligible for continued use."
