Woman Files Complaint Against Delivery Agent For Alleged Harassment Inside Her Home

Bengaluru: In this era of online shopping, an incident that happened with a woman has shaken everyone. A woman in the city has alleged that the delivery agent who came to deliver the parcel forcefully entered her flat and did obscene acts. The woman shared her ordeal on social media. After the post went viral, Bengaluru Police have taken cognisance of the matter and have sought complete information from the woman. 

What allegations did the woman make?

The woman says that the agent started leaving after giving the parcel, then suddenly started asking for permission to go to the toilet. She refused several times and clearly said that she does not allow any stranger to come inside the house. She also advised the agent to seek help elsewhere in the neighborhood. But according to the woman, the agent did not listen to her. He took off his slippers and went inside the flat without permission.

What happened after coming out of the toilet?

The woman alleges that as soon as she came out of the washroom, the man started performing obscene acts in front of her. She also showed her private parts. Seeing all this the woman got badly scared. She says that she started feeling unsafe in her own house.

How did the woman save herself?

Out of fear, the woman immediately turned on the camera of her mobile. Also kept the main gate of the flat open and stood near the door. Her aim was that if something went wrong, she could immediately run outside and seek help. The woman wrote that she was already scared after seeing the  news of increasing crimes against women these days. After this incident her fear has increased further.

What steps did the police take?

Bengaluru Police swung into action after the woman's post surfaced. The police have asked the woman to give all the information and evidence related to the incident. Like delivery details, agent name, number, and if there is any video or photo, then that too. At present the police are waiting to get more information from the woman. Investigation has started, but police have said that the allegations have not yet been independently confirmed. There is anger among people on social media after this incident.

Many people are demanding that delivery companies tighten the verification and training of their staff. New rules should also be made for the safety of women. Police say that as soon as complete information is received from the woman, action will be taken as per law.
