SSC CGL 2025 Tier-I Exam Cancelled At Multiple Centers Due To Technical Glitches And Administrative Reasons

The opening day of SSC CGL 2025 Tier-I examination faced major disruptions. Technical glitches and administrative issues forced cancellation at exam centers in Delhi, Gurugram, and Jammu. Authorities have announced new rescheduled dates for affected candidates.

SSC CGL 2025 Exam Cancelled: One of the biggest recruitment exams in the country, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 Tier-1 exam was cancelled on the first day i.e. September 12 at several centres due to technical and administrative reasons. The commission has clarified that new dates have been fixed for the affected candidates, so that no candidate misses their exam opportunity. Candidates came to know about the cancellation of the exam on Friday morning at MM Public School in Sector 4, Gurugram and there was a ruckus. According to officials, the angry candidates broke the school gate, after which the police had to intervene.

Technical glitches and administrative issues

"The exam had to be cancelled due to technical issues in the SSC server. The server started working again after the first shift, but the candidates of the first shift created a ruckus and did not allow the candidates of the second shift to enter. The police were called to restore order," centre head Manoj Gupta told PTI. No official complaint has been lodged by the school management regarding the incident, a senior police officer said.

Candidates got new dates

The examination was cancelled due to administrative reasons at Bharatiya Vidya Niketan Public School, Delhi. Candidates from these centres will get the opportunity to appear for the examination on 24, 25 and 26 September 2025. The examination was disrupted due to technical problems at the Digital Computer Education Centre, Jammu. The new date for these candidates has been fixed as 26 September 2025.

Statement by the Commission Chairman

SSC Chairman S Gopalakrishnan told the media that the exam was conducted successfully at 227 centres across the country, but problems were reported at 12 locations, including a major centre in Gurugram. "Due to old equipment and technical glitches, we had to cancel the exam at some centres. New centres will be arranged in Delhi-NCR within 10 days," he said.

Minor technical glitches were observed in Jammu. The Chairman said that sometimes such glitches arise due to the addition of new facilities in the examination process. He also clarified that the right to cancel the examination lies with the SSC only and not with any local centre.

Growing concerns about exam management

The cancellation of the exam this year has further heightened the already growing concerns over the conduct of the SSC exam. This year, candidates faced problems like sudden cancellations, software crashes, failure in biometric verification and wrong centre allocation in the post-election phase 13 recruitment exam held between July 24 and August 1, 2025. Thousands of students and teachers protested at Jantar Mantar and CGO Complex in Delhi.
