PM Modi Slams Pakistan as 'Anti-Humanity' After Chenab Bridge Inauguration
During the inauguration of the Chenab Railway Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Pakistan.

National News: During a public rally in Katra, he launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, labeling it an “anti-humanity country” for orchestrating the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists. Modi accused Pakistan of targeting “Kashmiriyat” and peace by attacking tourists to disrupt the region’s tourism-driven economy. The event, where he also flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains between Katra and Srinagar, underscored India’s resolve to bolster connectivity and development despite external threats. Modi’s remarks, referencing India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor on May 7, signal a firm stance against terrorism as Jammu and Kashmir embraces a new era of progress.
Chenab Bridge: A Symbol of Resilience
The Chenab Railway Bridge, part of the ₹43,780 crore Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), stands 359 meters above the Chenab River, surpassing the Eiffel Tower in height. Modi, waving the Tiranga atop the bridge, hailed it as a testament to India’s engineering prowess and commitment to the region’s growth. The Vande Bharat trains, launched during the event, will reduce the Katra-Srinagar journey to three hours, boosting tourism and trade. Modi emphasized that the bridge counters Pakistan’s attempts to destabilize Kashmir, particularly after the Pahalgam attack, which he described as an assault on the region’s cultural ethos and economic lifeline.

Modi’s Rebuke and Regional Impact
Modi’s condemnation of Pakistan as “anti-humanity” targeted its role in the Pahalgam attack, which killed a local pony handler, a Nepali citizen, and 24 tourists. He accused Pakistan of aiming to trigger riots and harm Kashmir’s poor by disrupting tourism, a key economic driver. Referencing Operation Sindoor, which struck terror launchpads along the LoC, Modi praised Jammu and Kashmir’s youth for rejecting terrorism. The rally, attended by Union Ministers and local leaders, highlighted infrastructure projects worth ₹46,000 crore, reinforcing the government’s focus on development.
