Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the 16th Rozgar Mela, distributing over 51,000 appointment letters to young Indians across the country. Addressing the event via video conferencing, Modi highlighted the initiative’s goal of providing merit-based jobs “bina parchi, bina kharchi” (without favoritism or expense). The Rozgar Mela, a flagship program, has now facilitated over 6 lakh government jobs since its inception in 2022, reinforcing the government’s commitment to youth empowerment.

Modi emphasized the pivotal role of the new recruits in shaping India’s future, noting their contributions across diverse sectors, including railways, health, education, and home affairs. “You are the architects of a Viksit Bharat,” he said, encouraging the youth to serve with dedication. The appointees, selected through transparent processes like UPSC and SSC exams, will join central ministries and public sector undertakings, strengthening India’s administrative and developmental framework. Over 10,000 women are among the recruits, reflecting a push for gender inclusivity.

The Prime Minister reiterated his vision of a corruption-free recruitment process, ensuring opportunities are based solely on merit. He highlighted that the Rozgar Mela eliminates middlemen and bribes, a practice he termed “parchi and kharchi.” The initiative aligns with India’s digital advancements, with online portals streamlining applications and reducing delays. Modi also noted that over 1.5 lakh jobs have been created annually since 2014, a sharp rise from previous decades, as per government data.
