Is there orange alert in Mumbai and Raigarh?
IMD has issued orange alert for Mumbai and adjoining Raigarh district. Due to continuous rain, 200 to 300 mm of water has fallen in many areas. High waves are rising in the sea near Marine Drive and Gateway of India. There is waterlogging in many parts of the city and traffic remained stuck for hours.
Why is there a red alert in Odisha?
The low-pressure system formed in the Bay of Bengal has now turned into deep low pressure. Due to this, the risk of torrential rain has increased in Odisha. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonpur and Kandhamal. There are orange and yellow alerts in the remaining districts. Fishermen have been given strict instructions not to go into the sea till July 7.

Due to heavy rain at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, the runway remained closed for about 1 hour. Due to this, many flights were delayed, 4 were cancelled and 13 had to be diverted to other airports.

IMD says that for the next 48 hours, heavy rain may continue in many parts of western and southern India. The department has appealed to people to follow weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel and avoid going to low-lying areas and sea shores.
