Major train accident in Bilaspur, goods train collides with passenger train, 6 killed, many injured

Bilaspur: A major train accident occurred in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district. A Gevra Road Bilaspur (68733) MEMU local train collided head-on with a freight train near the Jairam Nagar station on Tuesday evening. The accident occurred around 4 p.m. on the up line between Gatora and Bilaspur stations.

According to preliminary information, approximately six people have died in the accident, and two to three have been injured. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The railway administration has launched relief and rescue operations. Senior railway officials and staff have arrived at the scene, and the rescue operation is underway.

According to South East Central Railway (SECR) officials, train movement on the up line has been disrupted due to the accident. The railway has deployed all resources to the scene and is taking all necessary steps to treat the injured. An investigation is currently underway into the cause of the collision. A large number of local residents and rescue teams are present at the scene.

Why Did Trains Collide Head-On?

It is reported that the accident occurred around 4 p.m. between Gatora and Bilaspur stations, where a passenger train and a freight train collided head-on. The sound of the trains colliding echoed throughout the area. Local residents rushed to the train and immediately began rescue operations. Following the collision, a coach of the passenger train fell on top of the freight train. Several people were injured and were transported by rescue teams for treatment. Arrangements are being made for the treatment of the injured.
