18 Maoists Killed, 4 security personnel injured in Chhattisgarh operations

Chhattisgarh: A minimum of 18 alleged Maoists were gunned down and four jawans were injured in two different encounters with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Sukma and Bijapur districts on Saturday ¹. The encounters are a major setback for the Maoist insurgency in the area.

Sukma encounter: 17 maoists killed

In Sukma, 17 Maoists, among them 11 female cadres, were slain in a gunfight with a combined team of district reserve guard (DRG) Sukma and central reserve police force (CRPF). Among the fatalities was a CPI (Maoist) special zonal committee member (SZCM) member.

Bijapur encounter: One maoist killed

A Maoist was killed by security forces in the Narsapur jungles of Bijapur on Saturday evening.

Security forces recover massive stash of firearms

Police have seized a massive quantity of weapons, comprising an AK-47, SLR, INSAS rifle, .303 rifles, rocket launchers, BGL launchers, and explosives from the site of the encounter.
