Mumbai: After veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital following a sudden medical emergency, Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend and Pakistani actress Somy Ali expressed deep concern and said the news made her “heart sink”.
Did Salim Khan undergo surgery?
Salim Khan was reportedly hospitalized after he felt “giddy” and experienced a sharp spike in blood pressure, which led to internal bleeding on the right side of his brain.
The legendary writer was on Tuesday morning rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital and later in the evening, doctors treating hm said that Salim Khan was stable and under observation.
The veteran screenwriter, who was put on ventilator support has undergo an operation on Wednesday.
The Hospital officials on Wednesday confirmed that Salim Khan underwent surgery and is currently on a ventilator.
Dr Jalil Parkar from the hospital said, "He has undergone surgery and is now kept on a ventilator. His condition is stable now. At 11am on Wednesday, we will issue a press bulletin with the consent of the family and relatives."
"He is stable but under close observation with regard to his clinical status, the doctor further added.
Was Salim Khan a father figure for Somy Ali?
Somy Ali in a social media post described Salim Khan not just as a legendary writer but as a father figure in her life.
Taking to Instagram, Somu shared a photo of Salim Khan along with his wives Salma Khan and Helen and said that the veteran screenwriter’s views on spirituality left a lasting impact on her.
The Pakistani actress wrote, “Hearing that Salim Khan has been hospitalized made my heart sink. To the world, he is a legendary writer who helped shape icons like Amitabh Bachchan and co-created masterpieces like Sholay. To me, he was a father figure.”
Somy, who lived at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai, while she was dating Salman Khan in the 1990s, said that, “Living in his home, I was treated like a daughter, included at the table, engaged in deep conversations about faith, where all religions were respected and celebrated. He taught me that God is bigger than doctrine, and that storytelling must always carry truth beneath the drama.”
The Pakistani actress, who dated Salman Khan for eight years from 1991 to 1999, said, “His brilliance built cinematic history. His humanity built people. Praying for his strength and recovery. He means more to me than words can say.”
What did hospital say in statement?
Later on Tuesday evening, doctors treating Salim Khan said that he was stable and under observation.
The bulletin issued by the hospital in the Tuesday evening, read, “Respecting the relatives’ request, further details ain’t being shared today. However, tomorrow at 11 am we shall be addressing a press bulletin with due consent of the relatives and maintaining the confidentiality of the patient to the utmost. Kindly bear with us. He is stable but is under close observation in regards to his clinical status.”
