The Indian film industry, otherwise known as Bollywood, has been experiencing creative drought for the last few years. The majority of the films are under fire for not being original but formulaic instead. Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui has now joined in to criticize the industry for creative bankruptcy as well as for plagiarism.

Bollywood's Creative Bankruptcy

Siddiqui also commented on plagiarism in a recent interview. Plagiarism, according to him, is now a normalised practice in the industry. Siddiqui informed us that films are mostly sequels or plagiarised content. This, he believes, has led to a lack of originality and innovation in films."It's creative bankruptcy, the same as financial bankruptcy," he said.

Plagiarism: A Normalised Practice?

Siddiqui also accused the industry of plagiarism, adding that it has become a norm. He claimed that many films have taken scenes and plots from other industries, such as South Indian cinema."We've stolen songs, we've stolen stories," he alleged.he claimed. Siddiqui believes that this lack of originality is a gigantic problem and needs to be dealt with.

Impact on Creative Freedom

Siddiqui believes that the industry's penchant for using formulas and plagiarized material has stymied creative freedom. He cited the example of director Anurag Kashyap, with whom he has worked on a number of films, including Gangs Of Wasseypur and Dev.D. Kashyap left Bollywood for lack of creativity and originality in the industry, Siddiqui stated.

The Need for Originality

Siddiqui's comments highlight the need for innovation and novelty in Bollywood. The excessive reliance on formulas and pirated content has left a creative void, and the moment has come for the filmmakers to think beyond the box and introduce something new. Even the audience is becoming more discerning, and films need to offer something new and different to attract them.

Stagnation of creativity and plagiarism

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's remarks have sparked a much-needed debate regarding the condition of Bollywood. The stagnation of creativity and plagiarism in the industry are issues that need to be addressed, and directors need to put emphasis on originality and innovation. This will restore Bollywood's creative pace and present films that are critically acclaimed as well as commercially successful.
