Goddess Sati was the daughter of Prajapati Daksha. Once, Daksha organized a grand yajna and all the gods were invited. However, he had not invited his daughter Sati and her husband, Lord Shiva. However, Goddess Sati strongly desired to participate. Lord Shiva tried to convince Sati to not to participate, but she refused to agree. Finally, Lord Shiva allowed her to attend. When Sati went at her father's yajna event, she was not treated well there. Except her mother, no one interacted with her and even teased her. Sati couldn't bear this humiliation by her father, Prajapati Daksha. Lord Shiva got angry after hearing this. And Goddess Sati immolated herself in the fire. After this, Lord Shiva destroyed Daksha's yagya. Later, Sati took rebirth as Shailputri in her next life and became the daughter of Himalaya. It is believed that Sati was born again as the daughter of Shailraj Himalaya. That is why she was called Shailputri, who married Lord Shiva and became his wife again.
